UPDATED RWT CURRICULUM NOW AVAILABLE
An updated and expanded Recruiting Washington Teachers (RWT) curriculum is now available for the 2020-21 school year. The curriculum includes new resources on college access, universal design for learning, and bilingual education. View the updated RWT curriculum.
The curriculum was reviewed and updated by the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and a team of six Washington educators.
Students’ lives and their educational experiences are at the center of the RWT curriculum; as it has been designed in a way that supports them in observing, reflecting, and applying theory in the classroom and beyond. The curriculum contains six themed pillars that allow teachers to design their RWT course in a way that is truly responsive to the students and their community.

The mission of the Recruiting Washington Teachers (RWT) program is to “grow our own” diverse group of future teachers who more closely reflect the student population within local communities. RWT is a high school teacher academy that helps students to explore cultural identity and educational opportunities through the lens of the teaching profession. Research from 2007 to 2019 shows RWT participants consistently have higher than both local and state averages for high school graduation and acceptance to college rates.
