Business Agent Report November 2020

By Chad Baker

Highline T-III
We have held contract demands meetings and elected the bargaining committee for this year’s upcoming contract bargain, which should begin to take place in early January 2021. The District has returned ILC students to in-person learning, which has been a challenge for our members. The fear and anxiety around COVID are things the members, who are working in the building, are dealing with daily.

City of Burien
Shop Steward Hayden Fagundes tragically passed away last week. Usually during our membership meetings, we would have a moment of silence for any brothers or sisters who have passed and since we are unable to do that, I’d like to acknowledge that here.

We are also in contract bargaining in Burien and looking at a 1-year contract.

City of Federal Way
We are in bargaining and the City will be providing us with a financial presentation on 11/18 along with a market study.

City of North Bend Public Works
We are currently in contract negotiations with our third session scheduled for tomorrow 11/19. Things have been moving well so far and we hope to have a deal in place by the end of the year.

All other municipalities and shops have been relatively quiet. We have been dealing with the impacts of COVID. Although, I am happy to report that there have not been any layoffs in the groups I represent.

I hope everyone is healthy and staying safe. I hope to see you all soon!

Thank you,

Chad Baker
