By Pat Silvernale
November 16, 2020
After ratifying our contract last spring our longtime member and steward, Jerry Leonhard, passed away last month. Jerry was the lone committee member for our last negotiation.
After 16 bargaining sessions in the month of October, 5 unions including Teamsters Local 763 overwhelming ratified a new five-year contract that averages 3% per year for each year of the agreement. We also improved the vacation accrual and getting vacation sooner as well as other improvements.
City of Tukwila
The City ended the furloughs, which were scheduled through the end of this year. Members returned to their regular schedules effective 11-1-2020.
Open enrollment started on November 16th for all City of Tukwila employees.
We are currently working on a reorganization in Publics Works with the City that will go into effect 1-1-2021.
City of Clyde Hill - Police Dept
We are preparing for upcoming contract negotiations. We will be getting together at the end of November and into December to work on this.
City of Shoreline
Negotiations continued last week on a first contract for the members at Shoreline. We hope to conclude by year’s end but are not in a hurry until we get a contract we can agree to.
