Teamsters Local #763 held their annual Shop Steward Training Seminar on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Union Hall in Tukwila, WA.
The day began with breakfast and registration at 7:30AM. Secretary-Treasurer Sullivan followed with his opening remarks and welcomed everyone to this year's training, which was well-received by almost 90 attendees.
The seminar began with a presentation by special guest, Jack Holland, from Reid, McCarthy, Ballew & Leahy, LLP. It covered the following topics:
- Shop Steward - Right & Duties
- Shop Steward's 10 Commandments
- Focus: Workplace Harrassment / Discrimination

Mr. Holand then presented The Shop Steward's Three Page Survival Guide: "Guidelines - Weingarten - Just Cause".
Business Agent Mary Keefe provided political updates, discussed union representation in a post-Janus word and conducted new member orientation. Business Agent Liz Brown provided legislative updates for first responders. Vice-President Jason Powell provided updates to K-12 members on the SEBB Program.
The seminar concluded with a raffle and adjourned at 12:30PM.
