The City of Edmonds
The city has proposed that the contract, which expires Dec. 31, roll over for a one-year extension. Details are being drafted into a Memorandum of Understanding under review by the Employer. The current contract expires Dec. 31, 2020.
City of Monroe
Three of the four contracts have been ratified, but we are moving on Dec. 7 into a second day of mediation on the contract covering the Police Sergeants. The contract expired Dec. 31, 2019.
Highland Water District
Negotiations are underway with Highland Water District, which provides drinking water to residents north of the City of Monroe. The contract expires Dec. 31, 2020
Peninsula Truck Lines
I am in coalition bargaining on the Peninsula Truck Lines contract with several other Teamsters Locals in Washington state. The negotiations are led by Rich Ewing, head of Teamster Joint Council No. 28's Freight Division. We represent Peninsula's clerical employees in Federal Way and Auburn. The contract expires Dec. 31, and our first day of negotiations is Nov. 23.
I have seen a clear uptick in the number of COVID cases among the employers where I represent workers. Workplaces that went months without a single COVID case have dealt with exposures, quarantine and positive cases. I urge everyone to mask up, especially as we move into cold and flu season; wash your hands frequently and try to keep distant from others. These simple steps, if followed, could help us all avoid a terrible winter.
