Secretary-Treasurer Report November 2020
By Scott Sullivan
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy, safe and COVID free!
It was the hope of your executive board that we were going to be able to conduct our general membership meeting tonight, November 18, 2020 at 6:15 pm, in the main auditorium with social distancing, temperatures would have been taken and masks would have been required.
On Sunday, November 15, 2020, Governor Jay Inslee issued a new round of guidelines that prohibit us from being able to conduct our meeting today.
Teamsters Local # 763 has had a lot of challenges in every jurisdiction in 2020. Not only do we have our normal rounds of negotiations on the contracts that were expiring at the end of 2020, but we also had to navigate our way through multiple employers that had to deal with loss of revenues, furloughs, healthcare issues, etc.
I am proud of the staff and executive board of Teamsters 763 for all the hard work, dedication and long hours that have been put in by all.
Last evening, I signed the Bellevue supervisor contract that was ratified at the end of October.
Currently we are in bargaining with the City of Kirkland. We received a proposal from the city for a one-year extension and our committee is going back to talk to the rank-and-file to see what it would take in a counter proposal to ratify a one-year deal. Next negotiation is set for December 4.
I hope you find this report a little helpful. All business agents have been asked to put a report together so that we could post them on the website in lieu of being able to give you those reports in person tonight.
Thank you to all of our essential workers who perform their duty every day with the potential exposure to COVID-19. We all know these are difficult times!
Wishing you and yours a healthy and happy holiday season!
