We’ve reached a tentative agreement with the Company for a 2-year contract extension. The extension includes 3.5% general wage increases each year and improved premium shares (currently 75% employer/ 25% employee paid and will move to 80% employer/ 15% employee).

Bus Drivers are still laid off with approximately 8 of 187 recalled.
The Union has an open grievance regarding the misclassification of this lay off and the impact it has had on SEBB health and welfare benefits eligibility.
Edmonds SD Bus Drivers ratified a one (1) year Extension Agreement to their Labor Agreement.

We have held contract demands meetings and elected the bargaining committee for this year’s upcoming contract bargain, which should begin to take place in early January 2021. The District has returned ILC students to in-person learning, which has been a challenge for our members.

The city has proposed that the contract, which expires Dec. 31, roll over for a one-year extension. Details are being drafted into a Memorandum of Understanding under review by the Employer. The current contract expires Dec. 31, 2020.

We are entering negotiation season for the field unit. Contract demands surveys were emailed to all members at the beginning of the month. Based on the survey results we will elect a bargaining team and start to put together proposals based on the survey results.

Negotiations start 8/20/20 with Issaquah SD, 8/21/20 with Northshore SD, and 8/31/20 with Edmonds SD. Currently I’m working with a Coalition of K-12 Unions trying to solve a catastrophic funding shortfall in February 2021 which has already caused several School Districts around the State to lay off their bus drivers.

Held two bargaining sessions via Zoom on August 5th and 6th to bargain over the effects of Covid-19 on how the schools will be operating this year. We will be voting by mail sometime the week of August 17th.
